I believe the principal differences are in prices, size and frequency of shopping visit.

In Colombia, the people usually go to the supermarket once a month to buy food and clean articles.

In other hand, people go to department store sometimes, only to spend time and they finish buying clothes, shoes and luxurious things and visit this place for entertainment too.

The discount stores are visited by people who prefer low prices over the quality. Some stores now have discount days for specific products.

The convenience store is used to buy daily products in small amounts. These stores, usually, are located near the home or the office.

And finally, the kiosks can be useful when the people go by the street and want to eat or drink something as well as buy a newspaper or a magazine.

1. Resisting the changes.

The employees refuse the changes because have been a strong situation and felt that lost old values and organisational culture.
In addition, a lot of employees were fired  and it created a bad environment and a feeling of insecurity and fear. The staff has lost the identify with the company.

2. Suggestion for improving the situation

Thus, I suggest to develop a strong communication campaign to create a close relationship with the staff. We need  to explain each point about the new objectives and, trough a honest way, to say why the people were fired. Is the only way to recover the trust.

3. Learnin from this experience

The changes are very hard for employees and is harder if the staff does not know the reason. Thus, ever we keep on mind strategy to adapt the workforce to the new conditions.
